Framis Italia: Partner and Promoter of the ZDHC Roadmap to Zero Campaign
A Commitment to Sustainable Chemistry in the Fashion Industry
Framis Italia strengthens its position as a strategic partner and promoter of the ZDHC Roadmap to Zero campaign, an initiative that is transforming the fashion industry’s approach to chemical management. The decision to join and actively promote this international programme reflects the company’s deep commitment to environmental sustainability and the protection of workers’ and consumers’ health.
The Vision of the ZDHC Roadmap to Zero
The Roadmap to Zero Programme is a collaborative, multi-stakeholder initiative within the fashion industry, and one of the most recognised and adopted worldwide. Its mission is to guide global value chains toward the highest standards of sustainable chemical management, promoting resource efficiency and circularity.
With over 320 Signatory Brands and Friends representing all levels of the fashion supply chain, the programme is structured around three interconnected focus areas: Input, Process, and Output.
Associated with these areas are comprehensive guidelines, training modules, and tools such as the Manufacturing Restricted Substances List (MRSL), the list of chemical compounds required to be eliminated from the supply chain.
The Programme promotes transparency, collaboration, and supply chain alignment through training and engagement opportunities designed to harmonise all involved stakeholders.
Framis Italia: Signatory and StZ Level 2 Supplier
Framis Italia’s role within the ZDHC landscape is not a simple membership, but an active, consistent, and shared commitment that demonstrates the company’s intention to drive change within the textile industry. To this end, the company decided to become a ZDHC Signatory Brand in 2022, shortly after being included in the programme as a supplier of plastic adhesives.
Framis adopts the implementation standards of the Roadmap to Zero programme, monitoring and requiring the same level of commitment from its suppliers. Chemical formulations used in its production sites are adopted only after thorough verification of compliance with the ZDHC MRSL or selected through the Gateway platform, the world’s most extensive library of safer chemicals.
Input monitoring is ensured through a high level of vertical integration and the tools provided by the programme, including an always up-to-date Chemical Inventory and Performance Incheck. Framis’ commitment is also demonstrated by achieving Level 2 on the Supplier to Zero platform in accordance with the Progressive Level requirements—an accomplishment reached as early as 2023, making the company one of the first in its sector.

The Alicante Convention: International Acknowledgement
As proof of its commitment, Framis Italia is highly active in the engagement and knowledge-sharing events promoted by ZDHC.
In 2022, as a Contributor Group, the company represented the new segment of the supply chain that had recently been included in the programme, showcasing the beginning of its project and its initiatives to integrate and align its supply chain. Since 2023, ZDHC has enabled us to highlight the long-standing corporate project dedicated to reducing the globally used solvent for PU coating: DMFa.
Framis Italia has long pursued the goal of converting as many products as possible to DMFa-free versions, without compromising the quality and performance that have always defined us.
Through significant technological investment, a radical mindset shift, and strategic partnerships, Framis is today an innovative leader in solvent-free and water-based solutions.
The 2025 ZDHC Europe Conference in Alicante marked the concrete culmination of this journey, where the company presented the challenges faced and the results achieved.
Framis Italia is not merely a beneficiary of the ZDHC Roadmap to Zero; it is an active promoter and a model of implementation. Through continuous innovation towards DMFa-free solutions and the presentation of its case study at an international level, Framis Italia demonstrates how sustainable chemistry can be harmoniously integrated with product quality and technological innovation.
At a time when the fashion industry faces increasing regulatory pressures and consumer expectations, conscious adherence to ZDHC is not a cost but a strategic investment that protects the company’s reputation, opens new markets, and contributes concretely to the protection of the environment and human health. With this vision, Framis Italia continues to drive the shift toward a more sustainable and responsible apparel industry.
