Our results

Renewable energies, waste and chemical management: we have already taken the primary steps towards respecting the Planet. At the same time, we have started a challenging, exciting and necessary journey into a broader mosaic of sustainable practices. Here you will find our results, one step at a time.

Renewable Energy

Framis has achieved its target of using only renewable energy in its production facility. More than 50% of electric energy is provided by a 6500sqm photovoltaic panel system. Furthermore, the remaining 50% Furthermore, the remaining 50%  has certified origin from hydroelectric sources, neither using fossil fuels in the energy production process nor emitting pollution. For this reason, we have obtained the ASE Certificate of Excellence and VAMPA certification.

Chemical recycling

Framis Italia does not release chemical elements into the atmosphere or burn them during its production. The 88% of the components that are contained in the polyurethane do evaporate and are collected by a condenser. The obtained material is sent to a specially authorized centre which, through a distillation process powered by renewable energy, separates the components that are now ready to be reused in further productions.

Waste management

Framis Italia manages waste and its recycling as an essential tool for tackling environmental pollution. All the waste we generate is already reintroduced into the circle through energy or material recovery.

Microplastic impact

The decorative film Dream 5500 by Framis Italia has proved to be the best decorative solution on the market also from an environmental point of view: the result of the washing tests shows a release of microplastics that is 7 times lower than the heat-transfer decoration technique and 18 times lower than direct printing on fabric.

Sustainable packaging

We have implemented several R&D initiatives in order to promote the use of recycled materials or solutions, with low environmental impact, for everything related to packaging (cardboard boxes, plastic bags, etc.). The result is the choice and the use of materials with the highest standards of quality and sustainability and that have been certified according to the most demanding standard in the industry.

Work safety

Framis Italia records ZERO accidents at work thanks to serious prevention and scheduled maintenance on all systems to avoid malfunctions. We also invest in up-to-date training for all employees and implement a clear and well-defined organization chart.

Our certifications

We certify ourselves and we will  continue to do so to be able to communicate transparently and to measure ourselves against our competitors and stakeholders. Our commitment is to choose the most accredited and functional certifications for our business: our production processes and products are already OEKOTEX Standard 100 Class 1. Recently, Framis Italia has become Contributor to the Roadmap to Zero Programme by ZDHC (read the news), succesfully completing Supplier to Zero Foundation Level (download the certificate).

Framis Italia is investing in the sustainability process with projects that are under development, the most important being:

Traceability of the supply

chain, The 4Trace Project

Framis Italia has kick-started the 4Trace process: we require suppliers to manage the traceability information of their production and supply chain and the origin of the raw materials used. The traceability information must document the identification and traceability of the production batches of each component and material in its various stages of transformation.

Only good chemistry

Framis has adopted the 4sustainability® Chemical Management Protocol to implement the MRSL ZDHC with a structured method (definitivelymaptozero.com) and constantly measure it transparently manner, its level of application. In line with our mission, we have decided to scientifically, accurately and systemically eliminate any risk that may come from toxic and harmful chemicals.

Green Match Project

Framis Italia has promoted the Green Match Project (2017-2019), co-financed by the ERDF - European Regional Development Fund, involving a team of over 70 experts in the research, development and application of new sustainable solutions in polyurethane production. Framis Italia is also a partner in the Circular Textiles project, also co-financed by the ERDF, which studies a comprehensive approach to material recycling through representative pilot cases for the textile sector.

Research and Development

Framis Italia is committed to the continuous development of an eco-friendly innovation of its production processes, thanks to the Research and Development department and investments in advanced machinery and technologies, such as the extrusion process.
